Our Travelstart team is seeking an Intermediate IT Support Technician for our Tech Team. This role will be responsible for maintaining and supporting the organisation’s IT infrastructure. This includes system implementation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and user support. The role also involves mentoring junior staff and contributing to IT projects, acting as a bridge between frontline support and leadership.

(This role is planned to be based in Cape Town.)

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and configure hardware, software, networks, printers, and scanners
  • Monitor and maintain systems, updates, and security definitions
  • Provide technical support and respond promptly to IT service requests
  • Document technical problems and solutions using ticketing systems
  • Train staff through various channels (videos, emails, in-person)
  • Repairing or replacing faulty IT equipment
  • To support both remote and onsite users
  • Enforce IT security policies and standards
  • Assist with user onboarding and offboarding
  • Maintain inventory and adhere to procurement procedures
  • Participate in IT projects and testing initiatives
  • Standardise processes across multiple office locations
  • Mentor junior team members and support server maintenance tasks
  • Escalate unresolved issues and assist in complex troubleshooting

Required Skills and Experience

  • Strong technical knowledge of hardware/software and networking (DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls)
  • Experience with DevOps methodologies and tools.
  • Knowledge of specific OTA technologies and systems.
  • Experience with chaos engineering and failure testing.
  • Certification in cloud platforms or DevOps.
  • Proficiency in Windows Server (2016–2019), Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and Active Directory
  • Familiarity with virtualization tools and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure is a plus)
  • Good understanding of IT security best practices
  • Effective problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in mentoring and basic project management is advantageous

Preferred Certifications

  • A+, N+, CCNA (or equivalent)
  • Microsoft certifications (e.g., MCSA, AZ-900)
  • Networking certifications (Fortinet, Cisco)
  • Google IT Support, AWS Cloud Practitioner
  • Project management (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile)
