About the Role

The IT Support Intern will assist the technical and operations team over a 6-month period, providing support with sound, audio-visual (AV), and basic IT tasks. This role is designed for a motivated individual eager to gain practical, hands-on experience in setting up and managing sound systems, assisting with live events, and providing general IT troubleshooting support within an office environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with setting up, testing, and packing down sound systems, microphones, speakers, and AV equipment.
  • Support live events, presentations, and meetings by monitoring and adjusting sound quality.
  • Operate and provide basic support for projectors, digital displays, and recording devices.
  • Maintain and organise inventory of sound, AV, and IT equipment.
  • Provide basic IT support, including but not limited to:
    • Adding and configuring printers for staff.
    • Troubleshooting basic wireless connectivity issues.
    • Assisting with minor hardware and software setups (e.g., connecting peripherals, installing basic applications).
    • Conduct routine equipment checks and report any faults.
    • Assist staff and presenters in using AV and IT systems.
    • Ensure safe practices during equipment setups and event operations.

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Currently studying or recently completed studies in Sound Engineering, Media Technology, IT, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of sound/AV equipment (mixers, microphones, speakers, projectors).
  • Familiarity with basic IT tasks (e.g., connecting printers, Wi-Fi troubleshooting).
  • Basic computer literacy (MS Office or Google Suite, media players, internet troubleshooting).
  • Strong willingness to learn and adapt to different technical environments.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Physically able to handle and move equipment when required.
