We are seeking an Air Content & Distribution Specialist to join our Technical Supply team based in Cape Town.
The Air Content & Distribution Specialist provides Setup, Monitoring and issue management for the optimisation of Air content and Distribution. This role is responsible for defining new air content suppliers' flows and parameters as requirements for the Product and Development team and for the efficient operational setup according to business needs. This specialist will be the main point of contact with air content suppliers to ensure efficient service and content delivery, and resolution of issues. Monitoring the efficiency of the repricing mechanisms and suggesting system enhancements to improve efficiency, cost control, automation and conversion is core to this role while supporting the Product owners on requirement gathering and ticket functional description.
Key Performance Areas
Implementation and Functional Setup Specialist
Monitor system efficiency with the Ops team (identify bottlenecks, increase in failed queues, etc.) and correct or escalate depending on severity.
Implementation of commercials and deals testing
Functional setup and bookability monitoring for ZA direct carriers
Shared Areas - Training and knowledge management
Work closely with 3rd parties providers to resolve issues or optimise usage
Implementation of Air content enhancement rules
Execute benchmarks using manual and internal tools
Carry out routine auditing, monitoring, testing and maintenance of air content rules
Monitor & Audit
Monitor bookability and look to book, and communicate to internal stakeholders or GDS Account Managers
Monitor suppliers performance using various monitoring tools
Investigate Air Content issues and report internally and to suppliers or manage via the rule tables - which ever is requried.
Monitor relevant IM channels (currently Google Spaces) for Supply issues
Investigate supply issues reported by automated alerts, or reported to the team's channels, or Jira
Work closely with the dev and commercial supply team to optimise shopping and air content based on the business and current market needs
Optimisation & Enhancement
Audit and update rules that govern Supply and Payments where required
Assist the development team in testing new features and bug fixing
Identify areas of improvement and report them to relevant stakeholders
Provide requirements to the Development team for system enhancements and new functionalities
Success measure
Change Requests acknowledgement within the team's defined SLAs
Realistic estimation and execution of requests within the estimated time frame for each request.
Knowledge Management & Project Management
Ensure knowledge management and documentation across the company
Manage projects efficiently using the defined team's methodology, timelines and budget
Track and provide visibility on all relevant tasks and monitor implementation success
Supplier Performance Management
Excellent supplier performance monitoring and actioning, according to defined KPIs like the relevance of content, pricing, bookability and lookbook.
Rules engine up-to-date with business needs and requests
Requirements
Minimum 3 years of experience in the travel industry, ideally with an OTA or GDS background
In-depth knowledge of Amadeus WBS, including configuration, troubleshooting, and integration
Strong understanding of travel industry practices, particularly within the air sector
Proficiency in GDS processes, specifically Amadeus online and offline systems
Ability to stay up-to-date on industry trends and distribution channels
Advanced knowledge of the Travelstart and/or Club Travel systems would be an advantage

The Group Technical Supply team is responsible for optimising air content distribution across the Group's unified platform, serving both B2B and B2C clients.
By managing and enhancing air content distribution channels, the team ensures the availability, accuracy, and competitiveness of air travel information. Through collaboration with airline partners and leveraging technology, the team drives improvements in the customer experience and booking processes.
